Delivery: DOWNLOAD AND READ DIGITAL MAGAZINES
Delivery is a free software that allows you to download and read digital magazines on your PC or laptop. The Delivery software is split into two parts, each with its own function.

Delivery Reader enables you to read digital magazines that you have purchased on the internet and downloaded to your PC or laptop. These magazines have identical content to the paper version but also have many added advantages, only available to readers of the digital version.
They are comfortable and easy to read and always perfect quality
They last for ever and never get crumpled, dog-eared or torn
You can store your entire magazine collection on your laptop or a USB key, saving storage space and making it easy to transport and read your magazines anywhere
Delivery has a powerful search engine which allows you to search individual magazines or even your entire library
You can click links within your magazine and go straight to the website featured
You can save and annotate favourite pages of your magazines for easy access later
Delivery allows you to access exclusive interactive extras that come with some digital magazines, such as video clips, sounds, free wallpapers, games, screensavers and animations
Encryption
Digital magazines downloaded with Delivery are encrypted specifically for use on your machine. Therefore they cannot be copied to a different machine even if that machine has Delivery Reader correctly installed on it.
However, when you purchase a digital magazine in Delivery format, you are allowed 2 separate downloads of that magazine. The first download is usually saved to your main PC or laptop. In addition, you can download a back-up copy of each magazine you have purchased. You can choose to do one of the following with your back-up copy:
Backing up your digital magazines
It is possible (and recommended) to make a disk, CD or DVD copy of your digital magazines as back-up.
To do this, open ‘File Manager’ on your PC and look for the folder called ‘My Delivery documents’. This is located within the normal ‘My Documents’ folder on your hard drive.
If you open the ‘My Delivery documents’ folder you will see all of the Delivery digital magazine files that you have downloaded as files with a ‘.dly’ file extension. Simply copy all of these files to a CD, DVD or portable hard drive to make back-up copies of your magazines. These can then be copied back into your ‘My Delivery documents’ folder in the future if you lose any of your digital magazine files,
Library
You can keep the default classification of your magazine library (by publication) or, if you prefer, create your own personalized classification (by theme, for example). To do this, first click on the ‘MY CATEGORIES’ button at the top of the Library window. Then click on the small folder icon
within the ‘ORGANISE’ button to create your own folders, and give them names. Your new folders will appear under ‘Filed documents’ on the left hand side of the Library window.
Finally, drag magazine thumbnails into your new folders using the mouse. To see the magazines in your library, click on the Inbox folder. Simply drag and drop magazines thumbnails into your new folders to organize your library.
If you want to delete any of the folder(s) that you have created, simply select them with your mouse, then press the icon in the shape of a cross
next to the ‘ORGANISE’ button to delete the selected folder(s). Don’t worry, this will not delete your magazines – they will still be stored in your library and can be seen by clicking on the ‘Inbox’ folder.

The Scrapbook button allows you to save favourite pages of your magazines in a separate library as you are reading. You can classify your Scrapbook just like you can your magazine library. You can also add notes to each favourite page if you wish to.

Simply click the SCRAPBOOK button whilst reading, and then click ADD TO MY SCRAPBOOK to add the current page to your library of favourite pages. Classifying your Scrapbook works in exactly the same way as classifying your library of magazines (see previous topic).
When a page is added to your scrapbook, you can also add your own notes. Just write the notes in the window that appears, select the folder where you want to save this page (or create a new folder if you wish), then click ‘OK’. If you do not want to add any notes, just click the OK button.
To view, modify or add notes to a favourite at a later date, select the thumbnail of the favourite you wish to view with your mouse then click on the pen & paper icon
next to the ORGANIZE button at the top of the Scrapbook window.

Enter the word or phrase you wish to search for, select whether you want to search your entire library or a specific magazine or issue and then click the SEARCH button. You will then see the results window which looks like this:

Delivery tells you the total number of search results - or hits – it has found (in this case 47). Simply click on the result you wish to view and Delivery will take you straight to that magazine page, where the ‘hit’ will be highlighted in yellow
To jump to the next result, simply press the forward arrow button. To go back to the last result, press the backward arrow button.
More advanced search options can be accessed by clicking the ADVANCED SEARCH option within the main search window.
When you open Delivery it launches in a full screen mode to give you the widest possible screen area in which to read your magazines.
Navigating around your magazine
There are three different ways of turning the pages of your magazine in Delivery. Perhaps the simplest is to hover your mouse over the edge of the pages. You will see the cursor turn into three forward arrows and the corner of the page begins to turn over. If you click your mouse, the page will turn. You can use this method to move forwards and backwards through your magazine.

The second way is to click the arrow keys at the top right hand side of the Delivery window.

Finally, if you prefer, you can simply press the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to turn pages forward and backward in your magazine.

Clicking the THUMBNAILS button takes you to a thumbnail view showing every page within your magazine. This is a great way of getting an overview of what is in your magazine and immediately jumping to articles and features of interest. To jump straight to a page of interest, simply click on the thumbnail of that page and Delivery will take you straight there.
Clicking the CONTENTS button takes you straight to the contents page of your magazine. All the items in the contents page are interactive - clicking them takes you directly to the article in question.

This area shows you which page you are reading at any time. If you know the number of the page you want to read next, you can type it in here and Delivery will take you directly to that page.

On the left hand side of the Delivery window you will find the Back/Previous arrows. These work rather like the ‘forward’ and ‘back’ buttons in your internet browser. They allow you to jump back and forward between pages you have recently viewed, and to access a history of recently viewed pages.
To zoom into a page, simply click anywhere on that page and Delivery will automatically zoom in to the area of the page you have selected. You can move around the page whilst zoomed by clicking and holding the mouse button and moving the mouse, and also by clicking the red rectangle in the thumbnail view of the page that appears in the top right hand corner when you are zoomed in.

Click your mouse again to zoom back out to normal page view.

Many digital magazines include interactive extras only available to readers of the digital version such as video clips, music tracks, pictures and animations.
When a magazine includes interactive extras, a summary box appears when you open that magazine, highlighting some of the extras included with that magazine.

The extras button
at the top of the Delivery window also becomes active. If you click this button you will see a full list of all the interactive extras included within the magazine. Clicking on any of the items listed will take you directly to that interactive extra.

Extras can also be accessed directly from the pages where they are present. When there are extras on a page you will see the extras symbol flashing on that page, and if you move your mouse over the area where the extra is embedded you will see a blue box indicating that extras are available. If you click on that blue box, the interactive extra will open automatically in a new window.
Using your back-up copy
Each Delivery magazine that you buy includes a back-up copy that you can choose to save to another machine, save to a USB key to read on any computer, or e-mail to a friend.
To save your back-up copy to another machine simply download it onto that machine using Delivery Manager (see next section).
USB
To save your back-up copy to a USB key, insert the USB key you wish to use in a USB slot on your machine and press the USB button
. Delivery will then save your magazine and a copy of the Delivery software onto your USB key. Once saved, you can plug the USB key into any computer to read your magazine. You can save a whole library of magazines onto a USB key and carry it with you to read wherever you go.
Send to a friend
To send your back-up copy to a friend, press the MAIL button
. Enter an e-mail address and a message and press OK. Delivery will e-mail your friend a copy of the magazine and the free Delivery software so that they can read it on their computer.

Links within your magazine allow you to navigate around the document (e.g. from the contents page to the selected article) and to access websites featured in your magazine directly just by clicking on the link.
Use this button to print your entire magazine, or just selected pages.
Delivery Manager is specially designed to make downloading your magazines to your PC as simple as possible.
Delivery Manager runs in the background so that you can continue to work on other tasks whilst your manager downloads. You will see a Delivery icon on your task bar (usually in the bottom right hand corner of the screen) and you can access Delivery Manager from your desktop at any time by clicking this icon. ![]()
You can also access Delivery Manager when reading your magazines at any time by pressing the MANAGER button in Delivery Reader.

When you install it for the first time, Delivery Manager is set by default to automatic mode. In this mode, it automatically checks for magazines that you have purchased when you are connected to the internet and downloads them to your machine as soon as they are ready. You don’t have to do anything.

« Refresh » button
Important: In order to be able to download your magazines, you must first configure your account settings in the « Settings » menu (see below).
Once downloaded to your PC, your magazine is stored in the Delivery Library and it disappears from the list of documents waiting to be downloaded to your machine.
If you encounter problems with any of the magazines that you have downloaded, you can download magazines you have previously purchased again using the « History » button (see below).
Delivery Manager: other features
Important: your magazines are stored in a folder called ‘My Delivery documents’ which is located within the ‘My documents’ folder on your computer. They are in a specific Delivery file format and can be identified by a .dly file extension. These files are encrypted and can only be read on your machine. We recommend you make a back up copy of your magazine files on a regular basis on a CD, DVD or external hard drive.
This feature enables you to view the download history of all your magazines for the past three months.

Magazine download dates are shown in green if the magazine has been downloaded to the machine you are working on or in black if the magazine has been downloaded another machine.
Important: you can download two copies of each magazine you purchase: the first is downloaded to your usual machine. The second "back-up" copy, can be downloaded to a second machine, e-mailed to a friend, or transferred to a USB key.
The « SETTINGS » button allows you to add or modify user accounts.

The window shows the list of user accounts set up in Delivery Manager. For each account you need to enter the login details (email and password), emailed to you when you created the account.
The « Test your Connection » button allows you to make sure that your machine is communicating properly with the server that downloads your magazines to you.
The « ADVANCED » button gives access to advanced magazine download options.
Here you can choose the frequency with which Delivery Manager checks for new magazines to download and set rules for when you want Delivery Manager to download your magazines (e.g. if you want, you can set it to download magazines only between 11pm and 6am).
We recommend that you leave the « Launch at Windows Start-up » and « Automatic » boxes ticked in order to receive your magazines automatically as soon as they are available.

The « DELIVERY SERVICES » button takes you to the Delivery Services website. Here you will find more details about the Delivery software, FAQ, and you can access all your delivery transactions and change your login details. You can also choose to manually download magazine.
